Dreaming of buying a house in Mexico someday, my partner and I took up a new hobby: watching real estate videos. Most agents were amiable and earnest while others left us alone with a music track and our thoughts.Â

Then suddenly there was Hal–different from all the rest!

Before virtually inviting us into a house in La Floresta, he set the stage for the character of the home as well as the nature of the neighborhood. Once welcomed inside, the features, details and potentialities of the abode were revealed with informed clarity and a kind of genteel grace.Â
At the end of the video, my partner and I agreed that Hal would be the agent of choice when the time came to buy. A year later, we made that call.
We knew from the start that Hal was a rarity. It was clear that his primary interest was not making the sale, but rather finding the right home for the right people, however long the journey. With patience, diligence and always with good humor, he became our guide through the sometimes choppy, sometimes ecstatic waters of home buying.
His extensive knowledge of houses and their inner workings combined with his relational and negotiating skills made us feel comfortable and well taken care of. Throughout the process–from the home inspection, to lining up potential contractors, to a required visit to the Natorio and right up to closing, we could always count on Hal to be punctual, present and engaged.
Though so much more could be said, the outcome speaks for itself. The home that “spoke to us” came with an enormous obstacle. But Hal’s philosophy is that “where there’s a problem, there’s always a solution.” And he lives it! We know in our hearts that without him, we wouldn’t be waking up every day in that house which exceeds our wildest dreams. And not a day goes by that we are grateful for our amazing home and for Hal–one of our favorite humans in realty and in life!
